This training is designed for Australian career and volunteer emergency responders, fire and rescue personnel, and non-operational team members.
It aims to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills to safely respond to incidents involving heavy Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) and hydrogen refuelling stations.
It is recommended that you have completed the following two courses before starting this course:
- Response to Electric Vehicle Incident - foundation training
- Hydrogen Safety Awareness
This is a progression of Core Operational Skills and provides operational personnel with the opportunity to maintain and further develop their skills in context.Â
As part of Australia’s National Electric Vehicle Strategy, the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water (DCCEEW) has funded the development of this nationally consistent, foundation-level training for emergency responders to improve their safety when responding to electric vehicle (EV)-related incidents. The Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) was best placed to lead this work in co-designing the training with member agencies to ensure that it was fit-for-purpose and met the needs of agencies across Australia.
This 3.5-hour online course will equip learners with foundational knowledge on electric vehicles, the associated hazards, and important considerations and strategies for responding to different scenarios involving them.Â
